Ferdinand MARESCALCHI (1754–1816) Italian politician. In 1796, he sided with the French and met General BONAPARTE, who held him in high esteem and trusted him greatly. He would play an important role in the Cisalpine Republic (1797–1805) and later in the Kingdom of Italy (1805–1814) – (ÉCOLE POLYTECHNIQUE) - Letter signed by MARESCALCHI, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Italian Republic - 1 folio page - to Mr. GUYTON-MORVAU, Director of the École POLYTECHNIQUE - PARIS, June 29, 1804: “The Ministers of the Interior and of War of the Italian Republic were deeply grateful upon learning of the thoughtfulness and care you had shown in sending two collections of stereotomy models, which you were kind enough to have forwarded to them... Our thanks go to the Board of Directors and to Professor HACHETTE, who was kind enough to include valuable notes and observations with the models.”
