THEATERS. Louis Benoit PICARD, playwright, novelist, actor, and theater director, member of the Académie française (Paris 1769–1828). 2 Autograph signed letters: L.A.S. March 12, 1815. “Sir. I have the honor of returning to you the three copies of the commissioners’ report on the division of the MENUS-PLAISIRS buildings (now the Théâtre ANTOINE); What delayed my signature was the modest estimate for the completion of the large workshop, which amounts to only forty-five thousand francs; But Mr. FONTAINE, whom I saw yesterday, reassured me by informing me that this item was included in the budget at a sum of fifty or sixty thousand francs…” 1 page in-4° + L.A.S. Paris, March 16, 1824. “My dear COUPART, this letter will be delivered to you by my friend PRAT, who is about to take over the management of the Théâtre de BORDEAUX. I highly recommend him to you; he has proven himself; he is undoubtedly the man best suited to make a theater thrive, and I ask you to support him to the best of your ability. With warmest regards.” 1 page, in-8°.
