SOMME. Raoult Le ROY de VALANGLART, Marquis de Valanglart, C - Lot 560
SOMME. Raoult Le ROY de VALANGLART, Marquis de Valanglart, Captain (1771–1848) - Letter A.S. “DE VALANGLART,” written from Abbeville in 1820, addressed to Countess Adrien de ROUGÉ at the Château de MOREUIL near Mondidier (Somme): “You can be sure, my dear Sophie, of the great interest with which I received news of your happy delivery… I send my love to the four grandchildren…” 3 pages, in-8°. Her father, François-Léonard LE ROY DE VALANGLART (1737–1794), emigrated during the Revolution, and his property was seized: his châteaux in Quesnoy (Quesnoy-sur-Airaines) and Oissy were subsequently purchased by Louis Dottin (who was then the second-wealthiest person in the department), but not the one in Moyenneville, where his sisters lived. The VALANGLART Farm is located in Moyenneville, in the Somme department. + Attached is a letter signed by TILLETTE DE CLERMONT-TONNERRE on letterhead reading “Château de CAMBRON near Abbeville, Somme,” dated 1889. 1 page, in-8°
