Military certificate and discharge signed by Chevalier DAMBRY, Colonel of the Queen’s Infantry Regiment, countersigned by Chevalier de TRESSEMANES, and with an apostille by Surgeon TERRYER. We hereby certify that we have granted discharge to the aforementioned Maturin CHAUVAU, known as St. Martin, Corporal of the St. Victor Company, to retire to the Hôtel des Invalides… as he is unfit to serve the King (Louis XIV), having been wounded by a gunshot to the arm, which has left him crippled; he is 48 years of age, having served for 26 consecutive years without interruption with all the diligence required of a soldier, whether in battles, engagements, or detachments, and generally on all occasions… ” Wax seal bearing the coat of arms. 1 oblong page (16.5 x 21.5 cm).
