Port of BREST. 7 Documents (6 Letters and a Certificate): An interesting letter A., signed by GLEIZE, to his brother, from Brest on August 17, 1772, regarding, among other things, a curious horned fish that pierced a ship + A note signed and on the letterhead of Rear Admiral TERRASSON, from Brest on the 27th of Brumaire, Year 10 (1801), regarding the coastal batteries + Letter from Brest addressed to the Marquis de VALFONS, Lieutenant Colonel in Lannion, regarding the coast guard gunners to be relieved from battery duty and a brawl in Brest between young naval officers “They exchanged more than 20 sword blows…” + Letter signed “Sister St. John of God,” Brest 1820, regarding the death of Louis François LE LÉER, a crew member of the frigate stationed at St. Servan: “His clothing is at the depot, as is customary, along with his watch…” + Letter signed “LETTRÉ” from Brest, August 26, 1828, to his brother, a banker in Paris: “…the outfitting of my frigate is proceeding very slowly.
