Gaspard, Duke of CLERMONT-TONNERRE, Marshal of France in 1747 (1688–1781) - Petition from Sieur D’AMIELLE, Captain of Infantry, stating that the Chevalier de LIGNIÈRES, Ensign of the King’s Navy, currently in Saint-Domingue, the sum of 430 livres, according to his promissory note, a copy of which is provided below. The Marshals of France, having reviewed the petition, order Sieur de LIGNIÈRES to respond, signed by Marshal Duke of TONNERRE (Judge of the Marshals of France), Done in Paris on January 27, 1777 - Chevalier de LIGNIÈRES replies that he has purchased a plantation in Saint-Domingue, which has prevented him from settling this debt for the time being.
