GERS. 1795. “In the Name of the French People,” Decree by COLLOMBEL de la MEURTHE, “The Representative of the People; delegated by the National Convention to the departments of GERS, TARN, and HAUTE-GARONNE, in session at AUCH on the 25th of Germinal, Year 3 (April 14, 1795). “Wishing to put an end to the numerous complaints lodged by individuals, pursuant to the Decree of the Committee of Public Safety of 23 Ventôse, against the distribution by the communes of grain requisition quotas for the army; wishing to provide all aggrieved citizens with prompt means of making known to the Committee the justice and basis of their complaints, without prejudicing the pressing needs of the armies, whose successes ensure the triumph of liberty… ” - Poster (42 x 33 cm) With the inscription “French Republic, Liberty, Equality.” Printed in AUCH (32) by Duprat, Printer for the Department of Gers.
