DAUCHY (Luc-Jacques-Édouard, Count) Saint-Just, Oise 1757–1817 - Farmer, Deputy of the Third Estate to the Estates-General representing the Bailiwick of Clermont-en-Beauvaisis, Prefect of the Aisne – Long letter signed as Count of the Empire, Councilor of State, and General Intendant of the Provinces of Illyria, addressed to the Duke of Gaeta, Minister of Finance. Trieste, March 17, 1810: Regarding the withdrawal of paper currency from circulation in the Illyrian Provinces: “… by allowing private individuals the freedom to enter into contracts and stipulate terms regarding the Bancozettels, paper currency will not disappear entirely from the Illyrian Provinces. The disadvantages that had led me to expedite the withdrawal from circulation will continue to exist, prices of goods will remain high, and we will lose the inestimable advantage of putting an end to the speculation resulting from the rise and fall of paper money relative to silver...” 4 folio pages.
