Théophile de BRÉMOND D’ARS (Saintes 1787–1875), Marquis de Migré, Viscount de Brémond d’Ars, Baron de Dompierre-sur-Charente and d’Orlac, Inspector General of Cavalry, Commander of the Legion of Honor. Letter from A.S. de BELMONT near SAINT-AFFRIQUE (Aveyron) on May 28 (1814), addressed to Madame Sophie de BREMOND in SAINTES (17). 3 pages, in-4° format - “ … I must travel to Bordeaux; had it not been for this delay, I could have arrived in time to present myself to His Royal Highness the Duke of Angoulême…. I have just been nominated again for the Cross of the Legion of Honor and for confirmation of my rank of Captain, which I hold only provisionally by order of Marshal SOULT, though this was authorized by the Head of the Former Government. It would be easy for my father to find out what has become of these two proposals…” (excerpt). Enclosed is a letter signed “WARROQUIER,” addressed to Captain Théophile de BRÉMOND D’ARS in Saintes (17), from Saint-Affrique (Aveyron), dated January 5, 1819. In it, he gives him news of his nephew BEAULIEU, also a Captain, who has arrived from the Russian border. He is pleased with this news, as he had believed Théophile de Bremond d’Ars to have died in Spain.
