Jean de Dieu SOULT, Duke of DALMATIA, Marshal of the Empire (St-Amans-Soult, Tarn, 1769–1851) - Commission signed by “Marshal, Duke of DALMATIA,” the Minister and Secretary of State for War, “February 9, 1815, while the King was in PARIS.” His Majesty appoints Mr. Étienne RAPINEAU as Second Lieutenant in the former 12th Hussar Regiment, to serve as Second Lieutenant in the newly organized Berry Lancers Regiment. He shall take rank as of September 18, 1813 (retroactively)”—Engraved parchment filled in with ink (36 x 24), seal under the paper.
