He founded the MONTYON PRIZES (for virtue, literature, and science), awarded by the Institute - Letter from A.S., March 13, 1815, addressed to Mr. MURSAY, 10 Rue de la Planche—1 page, small in-4° (carried letter): "Please accept my thanks, Sir, for your kind offer to discount the overdue bill of exchange drawn on you for four thousand six hundred francs. I have the honor of sending it to you along with my regards, and I will come to express my gratitude in person. I am also enclosing a copy of a letter I received from the Minister of Finance; I shall have the honor of discussing it with you and will seek your advice as to whether there is any way to challenge this decision. I have the honor to be, Sir, your most humble and obedient servant."
