Baron Ernest CHABAUD-LA-TOUR (Nîmes, Gard, 1804–1885) Member of Parliament for the Cher department, then for the Gard department; General; Minister of the Interior in 1874; Senator in 1876 - Autograph letter signed “Baron CHABAUD LA TOUR, Member of Parliament for the GARD, Aide-de-Camp to the Crown Prince, Paris, July 10, 1843, to Marshal Count GÉRARD, President of the Commission for Aid to Politically Convicted Prisoners.” He comments on the situation of Mr. ARMAN, a former subprefect who receives 45 francs per quarter as a political prisoner under the Restoration. “This allowance is not commensurate with the duties that earned him the persecution he has endured, with the losses that ensued, or with the current state of his fortune… I would be most grateful for the consideration you may wish to give to Mr. ARMAN’s request, which is worthy of your benevolence in every respect. 1 page, in-4°.”
