Pierre-Jean de BERANGER (1780-1857, chansonnier) - "Chansons" collected in a suite of 5 volumes in-12 (9,5 x 15,5 cm) embellished with 98 illustrations out of text engraved with steel by the great names of the time (Bellangé, Charlet, Devéria, Jouhannot, Monnier, Roqueplanen, Scheffer etc.) and presented in a binding signed Gross (foot of the spine of the 1st volume), full dark blue chagrin, boards with double gilt ornamented frame, smooth spine, inside gilt ornamented boards and gilt edges (qq rubs, spines slightly sunned) - The first 3 volumes were published by Perrotin, Guillaumin and Bigot in 1829 : vol 1 with frontispiece steel engraving portrait of Béranger by Scheffer, xliii and 252 p, 22 engravings - vol 2 of 260p and 28 engravings - vol 3 of 260 p and 33 engravings - volume 4 is composed of 2 different works bound together : Volume 4 is composed of 2 different works bound together : " Chansons politiques " published in 1829 by Tardier in Brussels, 82 p and " Chansons nouvelles et dernières " published by Perrotin in 1833, with xlvii + 249 p and 15 engravings - Volume 5 is dedicated to the " Chansons érotiques ", 98 p and includes only a false title page (no title page) - This set is enriched by an autograph letter signed by Béranger from 1849 (2 p in-8)
