RICCOBONI (Luigi): Les Parodies du Nouveau Théatre Italien, ou recueil des parodies representées sur le théâtre de l'Hotel de Bourgogne, par les Comediens italiens ordinaires du Roy. Avec les airs gravés. Nouvelle édition, revue, corrigée et augumentée de plusieurs parodies. A Paris, chez Briasson, 1738. 4 vol. in-12 contemporary marbled calf, spine ribbed and ornamented (lacking the title-piece and a few leather tears on the spine of volume 3, light spotting on volumes 1 and 3). Second enlarged and corrected edition (first published in 1731) of this important and fundamental work for the study of 18th-century theater, particularly Commedia dell'Arte, published by Riccoboni. At the head of the first volume is an engraved frontispiece and a general alphabetical index of all reported parodies; at the end of each volume are numerous copper-engraved musical pieces. A fine copy, despite the minor defects noted.
