MARÉCHAL DE SÉGUR. Philippe-Henri de SÉGUR, Marquis de Ségur (1724-1801) was Marshal of France in 1783, and Minister of War - Letter signed "Le Maréchal de SÉGUR", from Versailles on February 27, 1785, to Mr Du MALARD De CHATEAUNEUF De ST PRIEST, Sous-Lieutenant. 1 folio page: "On the account, Sir, that I have given to the King (Louis XVI) of the good conduct you have maintained since you entered the service, and of the courage you have particularly shown in the battle you fought against an English vessel, His Majesty has kindly granted you the reversion of the pension of One Hundred and Fifty Livres enjoyed by your late grandfather. I give you notice and I am, Sir, entirely yours."
