Ernest MOUCHEZ, Astronomer, Hydrographer and Rear-Admiral (1821-1892) - Letter signed by Charles MAUNOIR (1830-1901) and Émile LEVASSEUR (1828-1911), respectively as Secretary General and President of the SOCIÉTÉ DE GÉOGRAPHIE. 1p in-4°, headed "Société de Géographie"; Paris April 6, 1877, to Commandant MOUCHEZ, of the Institut, Member of the Société de Géographie (the future Admiral MOUCHEZ). He announces that the Société de Géographie has appointed him Vice-President for the year 1877-1878. "The Society, in giving you this token of its gratitude for your interest in its work, hopes that you will continue to support its efforts to advance the geographical sciences."
