Duke of MAILLÉ, Charles-François Armand DE LA TOUR LANDRY (1 - Lot 366
Duke of MAILLÉ, Charles-François Armand DE LA TOUR LANDRY (1770–1837) Marshal of the Camp, Knight of St. Louis, First Gentleman of the Chamber to MONSIEUR. He followed the Princes into exile and returned to France in 1801—Letter signed “The Duke of MAILLÉ,” in LA ROCHELLE (17) on July 21, 1789—AUNIS DIVISION. KING’S CAVALRY REGIMENT: “The account that the Marquis de SASSELANGE has given me of what took place in POITIERS from the 17th until the evening of the 19th, and of his troops’ conduct in such a delicate situation, shows me what one should expect from a corps whose commanders know how to maintain the strictest discipline and the most perfect subordination. In light of this arduous task, I authorize the addition of one ration of oats to the regular ration, which he has provided only to the horses that were on detachment. Under these circumstances, it is not possible to reunite with his squadron the portion that is part of the ROCHEFORT detachment.” — ½ folio page.
